Swedish sleep system encourages sound sleepLet your healthy lifestyle begin every morning with the phenomenal Swedish Sleep System that encourages a deep, sound sleep -- the kind of sleep everyone needs, yet so few experience. Presented by Electropedic/Tempur-Pedic of Arcadia, this "weightless" sleep system features a mattress made of high-tech, spherical foam-cell material called Tempur. Its chief benefit is the elimination of pressure points on the body that is otherwise experienced while sleeping on traditional mattresses. Those pressure points restrict blood flow, causing discomfort and the need to adjust one's sleeping position. That results in interrupted sleep. The open-cell structure of the Tempur material is self-ventilating, providing a sleep surface with a constant, comfortable temperature. The material also shifts under pressure, conforming to the contours of one's body. Both qualities in the Tempur mattress help reduce the nighttime tossing and turning that disturbs a restful, invigorating sleep. The Tempur material was developed for use by NASA astronauts. It is recognized by the U.S. Space Foundation and is certified by the Space Awareness Alliance.Using this space-age material, the Tempur-Pedic mattress was perfected for use in home and health-care applications by Fagerdala Industries in Varmdo, Sweden. It became the centerpiece in the renowned Swedish Sleep Systems, distributed in Southern California by Electropedic/Tempur-Pedic. "A lot of people want to try it, but don't know where to find it. They can try it at the Home Show," Andrew Hudig, co-owner of Electropedic/Tempur-Pedic, said. Tempur-Pedic mattresses enjoy a 20-year limited warranty. They are stocked in every available size at Electropedic/Tempur-Pedic's 12,000-square-foot warehouse. The family-owned company is operated by Hudig and his brother, Christian. Their father founded the company in 1964. Hudig said Electropedic/Tempur-Pedic is a longtime manufacturer of adjustable beds. When the Tempur-Pedic mattresses became available, they were viewed as a natural complement to the Electropedic product lines. The Swedish mattresses "do happen to work real well on the adjustable bed," but are available individually or as part of the Swedish Sleep Systems, Hudig said. The eight-part Tempur-Pedic Integrated Swedish Sleep System consists of the pressure-relieving Swedish mattress; matching Swedish neck pillow(s); a mattress foundation; a heavy-duty steel frame; a removable anti-mite, anti-allergy, Medicott-treated terry cover; a Tempur comfort layer; Tempur material; and a new air-flow system of open-cell, polyurethane base that is baffled to enhance pressure-relieving properties of the Tempur material. The adjustable system includes massage-therapy capability, a unitized steel frame, an industrial-grade platform and base, locking casters and an FM wireless remote control for positioning. The standard length of all adjustable beds is 80 inches, and Electropedic/ Hudig said, "We stock all the beds and accessories, including all sizes of the Swedish mattresses, 23 sizes of the cervical neck pillows and accessories." The outstanding Swedish neck pillows, including a travel pillow, are protected by a three-year warranty. Pillow cases are available. Other products in the Tempur-Pedic collection designed for ergonomic efficiency and comfort include an adjustable-height chair and transit lumbar supports, a seat comfort cushion, a personal-computing seat wedge, a horseshoe-shaped transit pillow and bicycle seat cushions. There's also a Tempur-Pedic office chair with 11-point adjustability, and a sophisticated product called The Perfect Chair, made with a maple base and black leather upholstery.
