Bob Clemmer, long-time Barstow resident, started Clemmer Services in 1992 after working in the air conditioning system industry in the High Desert for 15 years. The company's goal is to offer prompt and courteous service and installations for your home or business.

2006 will bring many changes to the air conditioning industry. New government regulations will mandate changes -- starting Oct. '05, new duct requirements require that all duct work will minimize air loss. This will increase system efficiency, and also help to supply cleaner air to the home due to less leakage. Starting Jan. 1, 2006, air conditioning efficiency codes in the United States will be changing from a minimum 10 SEER rating to a 13. This will offer a 20-percent efficiency increase. SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, a measurement established by the U.S. Department of Energy. The higher the number, the higher the efficiency -- kind of like miles per gallon for your automobile. Higher SEER ratings allow you to turn down the thermostat and save money at the same time.
